Fort Snelling (Finally…) Part 1

by Alison on September 30, 2006

    Well, this
was a couple Fridays ago (9/15/06)… but you know how it goes, life is
busy, and with so much going on, who has time to blog?  Especially
with so many great pictures to crop and post?     My
kids love field trips.  What kid doesn't?  Last year I
decided that I really didn't want to sit around [...]

Pregnancy News- 34 Weeks

by Alison on September 30, 2006

    Wow, I guess the
theme for this pregnancy is something like 'don't blink or you'll miss
it'.  Okay, nine months still takes nine months, but really it has
just been flying by.  I guess I should start getting ready for
this baby!  I haven't even dusted off/washed the infant car seat,
the cradle, anything… and I still need to [...]

Kittens Galore

by Alison on September 30, 2006

    We have too many
cats!  They're cute, but they eat a lot… and they don't catch
all the mice… and they have this really annoying habit of running
along like a little yippee dog at your feet, just asking to be stepped
on, so naturally I oblige…     We had a crazy
cat, I mean a really crazy [...]

Reward Systems- Not Just for Kids Anymore

by Alison on September 28, 2006

Well… I… uh… will just come out and say it- I'm drowing in a pile of laundry… again.  Oh,
how I've tried to develop the habit of getting that fresh load in first
thing in the morning.  I do really good for short spurts of time,
and then… Mount Washmore (as Flylady calls it) erupts again.
    [...]

Kelley Farm – Threshing Time!

by Alison on September 20, 2006

    Thankfully the
asthma issues were under control early last week and we were able to
venture out to one of our favorite stomping grounds- the Oliver H.
Kelley Farm in Elk River for the first of the fall Homeschool
Happenings days- the theme this time was “Threshing Time”.  It's
always a fun one to go to as the kids [...]

How I Spent Last Weekend

by Alison on September 19, 2006

    Well, the weekend
before last… what a whirlwind, I can't believe how fast the weeks fly
by! I only have 7 1/2 weeks left before baby's due!  Aaahh!

Anyway, I just had to post this cute pic of my
little Grace, gracefully playing the hand she has been dealt.  I
think I thought maybe it would or [...]

Staying Home, Staying Warm With Grace

by Alison on September 10, 2006

    Well, it's Sunday
morning and my husband has already left with our 3 oldest to head down
to church.  I'm left here with our 2 youngest trying to distract
them and get them playing long enough to forget how upset they were not
to get to go with the others.
While posting about a couple recent knitting
accomplishments yesterday, [...]

Warmers Aren't Just for Legs Anymore

by Alison on September 9, 2006

One of my recent projects has been to tech edit my sister's first
published knitting design.  She took the fingerless glove idea and
went a bit more fingerless… and came up with these Arm Warmers.
They're cute, they're fun, and they're pretty quick and easy to knit up
if you have a little bit of experience with double point [...]

Second Dolly Sweater

by Alison on September 9, 2006

    Well, with 3 little
girls and many more dollies than that, one can't knit just one dolly
sweater!  So here's my second attempt, I went for some color play
this time, I had to save on my pink as I'm using it in a sweater for
little Hope right now and still have a bunch of trim to [...]

Tomato Staking- Our Journey Begins

by Alison on September 6, 2006

    One of my favorite
things about homeschoolblogger.com is the wealth of resource
recommendations coming from real families, real mothers, actually using
what they're writing about.  And one of my favorite recent finds
is the concept of “Tomatoe Staking”.  I'd seen the term here and
there and finally became curious enough to invest the time in checking
out the website- www.raisinggodlytomatoes.com
    [...]
