O happy day that fixed my choice
On Thee, my Savior and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice
And tell its raptures all abroad.
CHORUS
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray And live rejoicing ev’ry day;
Happy Day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
O happy bond that seals my vows
To Him who merits all my love!
Let cheerful anthems fill His house,
While to that sacred shrine I move.
CHORUS
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray And live rejoicing ev’ry day;
Happy Day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
‘Tis done, the great transaction’s done-
I am my Lord’s and He is mine;
He drew me, and I followed on,
Charmed to confess the voice divine.
CHORUS
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray And live rejoicing ev’ry day;
Happy Day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
Now rest, my long divided heart,
Fixed on this blissful center, rest;
Nor ever from my Lord depart,
With Him of ev’ry good possessed.
CHORUS
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray And live rejoicing ev’ry day;
Happy Day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
Oh, happy day that fixed my choice indeed! There was a day when I made a choice- I knew what I was (a sinner) and I knew who He is (a righteous and holy God, make that THE righteous and holy God). I knew what I deserved (hell) and I knew what He did for me (paid my penalty). I made a choice, that day in 8th grade, and oh, happy day, He washed my sins away!
Have you had your Happy Day?

Sunday, September 5th, 1993 was my 'Happy Day'. I was 19, unwed. My daughter was a month old. Your family brought us to church and my life since has ne'er been the same!
I hope you know how grateful I am to the Lord for you and your family in my life. I thank Him often for that day in the car you guys asked me to join you for church. I still vividly remember, with joy, those precious beginnings of my walk with the Lord, and you guys were there. You still are. I've been so blessed over the years by your family and you, my sweet, dear friend.

Oh, I love singing hymns! Especially Easter hymns — I love them more than Christmas carols!
I don't remember one Happy Day, but many…my dad is a pastor, so I was brought up in the church…
Thank you for stopping by Lemon Drop Pie!
I love this song, I will be singing it tonight.
I've had plenty of happy days! This song is great! See you around the UBP!
