No One Broke a Leg

by Alison on June 12, 2010

You know the old expression “Break a leg!” you are supposed call out to out to your pal/son/daughter/sister/brother before they head out for a performance on the stage?  Well, with 3 kids in a production, and thus 6 legs at stake, well, I don’t really care for the old expression…

There were a couple of kinks in the dress rehearsal, but opening night went off splendidly!  It’s been a crazy long exhausting week with rehearsals from 9:00 am to 1:15 pm Monday-Thursday (including the auditions the 1st 2 hrs on Monday!) and the dress rehearsal starting at 4 pm on Friday and then the 1st performance at 7:30, wrapping up a bit after 8:30, pictures and mingling till 9:00 and then the 30 minute ride home from the town 15 minutes away.   Nice time to tear down a bridge over the long and winding river between us.  Oh, did I say bridge? I meant 2 bridges, nice time to tear them both down… it gave me a chance to see a bit more of the local countryside that I never normally need to drive through.  That’s what you call looking on the bright side, even if it was through gritted teeth and with a forced smile.

One more night!  After Saturday night’s (tonight!!) performance their little dream will come to an end and they will wake up to a fresh and new week with far less running around and far more regular things like a few chores, some violin practice, plenty of reading, and lots of outside time.

For now, we have to get through tonight, after we bake some Peanut Butter Cookies, because, you know, it’s National Peanut Butter Cookie Day!

I don’t know whose idea it was to start naming days after cookies, but I happen to love a good peanut butter cookie, so we’ll “celebrate” this one :-)

Off to bake…!

Oh how fun! I love children’s theater. Yours look so sweet :)

Didn’t even know it was National Peanut Butter Cookie Day, and baked some chocolate chip oatmeal peanut butter cookies anyways! (it’s always a good time for peanut butter cookies, in my opinion)

Looks like a fun time for the kiddos. Glad to hear there were no broken legs. That is a lame saying.
