Saturday Snapshots

by Alison on July 31, 2010

Our days have been busy, with busier days ahead- if that can even be possible.  Well, I’ve looked at my calendar, it is possible.
Summer is flying by way too fast.
I woke this morning to our Gracie singing “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. I kid you not.  I put a stop to that at [...]

It’s Popsicle Time!

by Alison on July 27, 2010

It’s been hot around here.  I chuckle to think of my Australian friends bundling up and enjoying nights around the fireplace.  It just seems so far removed from where we are now, because, well, it is.  Winter is still a long way off, even here in The Frozen Tundra…
One of our favorite ways to cool [...]

Multitude Monday 471-490

by Alison on July 26, 2010

I had a killer headache last week, and by killer I mean the kind of migraine headache that builds and grows through the night (grr, headaches are supposed to get better with sleeping) and leaves me vomitting and in intense pain, unable to get out of bed for a day.  Ugh, I hate losing entire days of my [...]

Big Bubbles Recipe

by Alison on July 23, 2010

There is something so fun about bubbles.  Just watch a child’s eyes light up with delight when you blow bubbles or listen to them squeal as they chase after them.  There are no two ways about it- bubbles are just plain old fun.

*FYI- sometimes while listening to classical music my girls will feel inspired to twirl [...]

S’more S’mores, Please!

by Alison on July 22, 2010

I’m not usually a huge fan of sweets, or of sugar in general, so when we enjoy some camping (or even a little pseudo-camping), making and eating S’mores is a seriously special treat for our family!
We’ve only had 1 backyard (pseudo) camping experience so far this summer, and I’m pretty determined to get a couple [...]

The Due Date That Wasn’t

by Alison on July 21, 2010

Yesterday would’ve been my due date.
I’ve had time to grieve and I’ve had time to heal.  I did grieve and I did heal, God is so good that way, well, He’s good in every way, but you know what I mean.  The thing with healing from loss, at least for me, is that it doesn’t [...]

Creamy Coleslaw

by Alison on July 15, 2010

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I seriously love me some buttermilk
Combine that with my love of coleslaw, and you get this recipe-
Creamy Coleslaw
1 c Buttermilk
1 c Mayonnaise
3 Tbsp Vinegar (I’ve always used white, but I’ve been meaning to try some good apple-cider vinegar)
3 Tbsp Lemon juice (I’ve used lime when I’ve [...]

ProFlowers Giveaway and a Pain In the Neck

by Alison on July 13, 2010

Totally two separate things.
There is no pain whatsoever involved in the ProFlowers giveaway!
There is, however, a pain in our sweet Mercy’s neck.  Unusual.  3 yr olds don’t often complain of pain in the neck.  3 yr olds can often be a pain in the neck, but that is an entirely different thing…
She came downstairs complaining [...]
