Keeping On

by Alison on August 28, 2010

  • went to a funeral
  • picked up another fruit order
  • went to another chiropractor appointment
  • staying (too) busy taking teenager to soccer practices
  • pizza night with family
  • Mr. Extraordinary’s birthday
  • successfully imitated the best cranberry chicken pasta salad I’ve ever tasted after my husband brought some home from a catered event at work, my new favorite summer salad recipe!
  • laundry, laundry, and more laundry
  • developed a Peach Crisp Bars recipe after realizing that my regular Peach Crisp is way too sweet and much more suitable for dessert than breakfast, the bars have much more oatmeal/granola type crust and topping, much more tummy-filling and suitable for breakfast, which is exactly what I was going for…
  • 1st trimester of a pregnancy after a miscarriage jitters
  • planning more fruit jam
  • realizing that I tend to spend more time in the kitchen baking and experimenting with developing new recipes during times of stress, maybe I process better in the kitchen?
  • looking forward to the local schools starting back up so that the teenager’s soccer practices will be at more regular times after school hours rather than the alternating morning and evening practices that are wreaking havoc on my attempt to schedule life these days
  • not sleeping well, waking at odd times and laying there staring at the ceiling for long stretches, making for sleepy days, well, sleepier than usual

Life keeps moving, and we’re moving right along with it, trying to live normal days with an emotional trauma in the background of our minds.  Life is precious, we’ve always known that, but now we really, really know it, know what I mean?

There have so many discussions, so many spiritual talks, many seeds planted, growth witnessed, and fruit seen.  God has been so good, He always is.

You’re doing good. And you are right… life just keeps on. Hang in there.

It’s an extremely strange life we live in Him. I’ve tried to respond to your post several times now to tell you again how I’m praying for your friends and for your family.

And yet, I also want your cranberry chicken salad and peach crisp recipes. To ask for such things seems really wrong. And yet, the balance of praying and asking for recipes is what your post is all about. So, I’m asking and praying.

In His Love,

Linda

Your husband directed me to your blogs. Wow, you are a very talented lady! It’s always sad to loose someone and only time can heal. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all who knew him.

I can’t wait to continue reading your blogs and will forward your links, to all that I know, who will enjoy your wonderfully rewritten articles.

I didn’t mean rewritten articles…written articles.

Still praying for all. The Lord is our strength and shield, a very present help in time of trouble.
((hugs))
