We’ve gone several times a year, every year since Jaron was about 2. Jaron, the now man-boy, who turned 13 last month. It had become a regular field trip (or two, or three, or more) each spring, summer, & fall. We have even been pictured in the Kelley Farm’s promotional posters & flyers!
We didn’t make it last summer, and it just didn’t feel right.
After missing Children’s Day this June and July, due to rain and then a crazy heat wave, I was bound and determined (and hoping & praying, begging & pleading) to be able to make it to Children’s Day in August.
And we did!
Well, most of us.
It wasn’t the same without Ian, but he was freshly home from the hospital and just did not have the energy for all of the walking.
It was crazy windy, and we only lasted about 2 hours before the youngest ones were ready to head home to scrounge up some eats and take some naps.
But it was good to go back.
How about you? Do you have a favorite place to visit?

Looks like a beautiful farm! That rooster in the first picture looks like one of our old ones!
I would love it if you would share it on Field Trip Friday! Here is the link to this week’s: http://allboyhomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/08/field-trip-friday-asheville-botanical.html Hope you will join me!
He really is a handsome rooster, isn’t he?
Thanks for the invite to your Field Trip Friday
It WAS fun to get back to the farm! So glad we were able to get together like old times! We were missing it something fierce too. Ian’s presence was missed, but I’m glad he was able to stay home and recoup.
Here’s hoping for more trips!

It was fun, not quite the same as the old days, but it was fun. I’m so glad we made it, the girls had been missing the farm something fierce…
I have driven by there many times, but have never visited. Maybe next summer I will take the boys.
Oh, yes, you should visit on one of the Children’s Days next summer! Maybe we’ll see you there
Looks like a fantastic place! How nice you have a place like this for the kids and that they do fun things with them.
There are few places like this where I live but we don’t go very often as we have a farm of our own. The favourite place for us as a family to go to is anywhere into the mountains. Up high and into the snow.
Praying for you Ian and hoping you make the next visit with the fam to the farm.

I’m sure if we had mountains nearby, they’d be a favorite destination too!
I can’t thank you enough for all of your prayers!
what a fun day, lovely photos! -I’m partial to the hens
