Because blog posts don’t always get finished the day they get started…
So much to write about, so little time, the story of my blogging life.
And it’s just as it should be.
I’m a busy mom, with a big busy family, and even if there were no days filled with doctor appointments & multiple therapy appointments, well, let’s face it, our days would still be filled, to the brim.
It’s all good
As much as I wanted to get a giant head start to our homeschooling year, would you believe that we’re still trying to ramp up to a full schedule? Would you believe that the subject we’ve been able to keep up with the most is Math? (What else did you expect from the woman who never misses a chance to mention that she lettered on her high school math team?)
After Bible memory work in the morning (most mornings, we’re nowhere near perfect Christians, just ordinary, remember?), everyone gets right to Math (ideally), and then between too many appointments, therapy exercises, and 3rd trimester fatigue (that one’s just me), well, the rest of the day (homeschool day included) doesn’t always shake out the way I envisioned it the night before.
But we’re trudging ahead…
Because that’s what we do.
I’ve been making big lists, and checking them more than twice. I love lists! I don’t know where we’d be without them, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be pretty…
Soccer season finished up last week (Yay!), all except for the awards night. One of Ian’s biggest therapy goals was to be ready for his senior year soccer season. It broke my heart that he wasn’t ready, not even close, but he was a trooper and a good sport who just wanted so badly to be a part of the team, and he acted as an honorary manager, attending several practices and riding with the team to several games when he wasn’t at an infection risk low point in his chemo rounds.
Jaron, and Liberty, and Grace, each got to enjoy their first season playing a team sport, and Hope, Mercy, Joseph, & Faith were more than happy to tag along, except for on the super hot & sunny days, and the crazy cold & windy days… (We had some pretty wild swings in the weather this late summer & early fall, notice the sweaty-faced flushed-cheeks boy and then the bundled up freezing kids…) I didn’t get to see as many of the games as I would’ve liked to this year, but I was just so excited & happy for them to get to participate in something fun for them, besides accompanying Ian & I to too many oncology & rehab therapy appointments, know what I mean? Ok, you probably don’t know what I mean, but you can imagine, right? Ok, maybe you can’t imagine, but you can try, right?
So, soccer season is finished, and that means that our late afternoons & early evenings can be spent catching up on all of the learning that gets put in the “we’ll get to that later” pile when the days get crazy. They’ll be excited about that, ehem, yes they will. Don’t burst my bubble
We’re heading to our homeschool co-op this afternoon, then a very special outing (that I’ll write more about soon) on Wednesday, a long day of therapy appointments on Thursday, and a possible fall field trip on Friday. I say possible, because it’s also entirely possible that I’ll be ready for a day off by Friday. My energy levels haven’t exactly been consistent lately, and, well, this is Minnesota, and our fall weather is anything but predictable (which works out well sometimes when I need an excuse to be a homebody
)
Busy or slow, I’m praying that your week is off to a good start!
And if it’s not, remember that His mercies are new every morning!

I could say ditto….except for the oncology and 3rd trimester stuff. Math is what we’ve stuck to. Last year I had a really sick kid. He was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder after he’d lost 11 lbs (and that’s hard to do when you’re only 70 lbs to start with). So many Dr visits and hospital visits and lab visits for blood draws. Not only this kid suffered with school, but also my other 2. But we stayed caught up in math…and reading…and Bible. But since that was the whole last year and we’re remodeling our bathroom right now, we took the fall off of sports…and we’re just catching up with school.
Eight children, one on the way and you are busy as ever! You handle pregnancy well, congrats!!
I found homeschooling 2 kids, running a farm and all the extra activities we did full, I just can’t imagine how crazy your day is.
Blessings,
<
I’m so glad to hear that Ian was able to participate in a few, smaller ways. What a trooper!
Thanks for sharing that others struggle like we do! Keep on pressing forward.
Praying you have a good, productive week, Ali!
