I’m just going to do it.
I’m going to risk stepping on some toes.
I know I’m going to offend a whole lot of people, on both sides of the aisle, by the time I’m done writing this (if I can muster the courage to hit ‘publish’)…
But it needs to be said.
Something is wrong with a society that celebrates a movie like Deadpool.
As I posted on Facebook –
Parents, be informed, this is NOT a family or kid friendly movie –
“The film includes full-frontal male and female nudity, a constant barrage of raunchy sex-related jokes and an extended sex scene that lasts several minutes and contains a few things I’m not totally comfortable mentioning here.
Remember when I said “name it and ‘Deadpool’ has got it”? Well, that applies in this category. Just in case dismembered bodies, decapitations and an insane amount of F bombs didn’t secure the R rating for “Deadpool,” the filmmakers figured they’d cover all their bases and throw in the sex aspect as well.”
Quotes from www.ksl.com
Ok, here’s the thing, I’m a conservative Christian and, yes, that fact influences my opinions on this, but I don’t think one has to be a Christian to understand that elevating this level of gratuitous violence, this level of gratuitous profanity, and this level of, let’s be honest here, pornography, and marketing it to children, is a bad thing.
It’s not marketed to children, you say?
Ok, technically, this movie isn’t marketed to children. Technically, the comics aren’t marketed to children. But the character himself? He has absolutely been marketed to children, and this movie stands to benefit from this marketing as thousands of young hearts and minds are exposed to things that they shouldn’t be.
My own relatively sheltered* children were introduced to the “super silly and fun” character of Deadpool in an episode of Ultimate Spider-Man, on Disney XD. Watch and see how fun and appealing he is to kids –
I get the fact that 20th Century Fox owns the rights to Deadpool and they’re willing to take the character to places that Disney or Marvel just isn’t/can’t, but my beef is with the whole lot of ’em – Marvel, 20th Century Fox, Disney, Hollywood in general. Disney knew what his character was all about when they decided to include him in a children’s cartoon. They knew how much this character just kills, kills, and kills some more, and they knew how gruesome it typically is. They knew precisely how much profanity he uses in a typical comic book (which 20th Century Fox accurately portrays in the movie). They knew how many crass and vulgar jokes he makes. They knew how, um, active, his sex life is, and how integral a part of his character this is. (On one site I found showing the Ultimate Spider-Man episode, some of Deadpool’s loyal, and I’m assuming/hoping, adult, fans were wondering “where were the boobies?” They knew enough to know that where Deadpool is, pornography is. You say nudity, I call it what it is, pornography. Deal with it.)
The Deadpool character also shows up in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game they play on the Xbox. My kids tell me he’s hilarious and silly, “not a man-killing machine” like in the comics (that they’ve only read about online, to the best of my knowledge…)
Tell me again how the Deadpool character has not been marketed to kids…?
You can’t, because he has.
Kids are going to want to see this movie, most of them don’t know the darker side of this character. They’re going to beg and plead with their parents, most of whom don’t have any idea how bad the bad parts of this movie are.
If you don’t have a problem with the violence, the profanity, or the nudity, then to each their own, but if those are things that you don’t want your children watching, then PLEASE, JUST SAY NO!
* On sheltering – Look, we monitor the things our kids are exposed to, and I’m not going to make any apologies for doing so. We don’t allow shows or movies with nudity, excessive profanity, or too much in the way of sexual innuendos. But we don’t live under a rock. We allow much more in the way of shows, movies, even music, than many of our conservative Christian brethren. In fact, I’m quite certain several of our old friends consider us ‘backsliders’ because of this. I tell you that just so you don’t think “well, they think pretty much everything entertaining today is offensive and wrong…” We don’t. We loved Avengers and the Captain America movies. Our teens love Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Arrow. And they listen to {affiliate link warning} Toby Mac {go ahead, click it and buy the CD, it’s awesome} and Jamie Grace, along with Taylor Swift and the occasional Justin Bieber song. I can’t believe I just typed that. The Biebs was not my idea. I tried to create U2 and R.E.M. fans, but you know, kids these days…
Back to my rant post-
A few weeks back, our 16 yr old bought himself a Deadpool hat, thinking the character was “really cool”, after that Ultimate Spider-Man episode. Well, after everything I’ve recently read about the character, and now this box office record setting movie, I just told him the hat has to go.
I know some of you will think that’s just awful. How could I be so controlling as to demand that my almost-adult son get rid of something he bought with his own money?! Listen, this young man is an amazing big brother. He has 8 younger siblings who adore him and look up to him. If he likes something, they like something. If he thinks it’s cool, they think it’s cool.
Our 4 yr old saw the picture on one of the articles I was reading this afternoon, and exclaimed, “Ooh, Deadpool, I love him! He’s so cool and funny!” I wish I was kidding. 1 episode of Ultimate Spider-Man, time playing a LEGO Marvel game, and a big brother with a cool new hat was all it took to turn my sweet little 4 yr old princess-ballerina-wannabe into a loyal fan of a character she does not and should not understand.
No, my children are not all automatons. Yes, they all have minds of their own. But seriously, cartoons, games, and especially big brothers (and of course sisters) carry influence, and we are (hopefully) trying to teach our older children to be an influence for good in this world.
There is nothing good about Deadpool, the character or the movie.
I know, I have strong opinions. Deal with it.
He’s violent, and not just a little bit.
“Deadpool” is violent and graphic. Deadpool isn’t like Batman or Spider-Man where they try to catch the bad guy and send him to jail. Rather, Deadpool likes to pull them limb from limb and then either shoot the bad guy in the head or just lop it off with one of his katanas… There is plenty of blood, gore and violence to really go around.

He’s foul-mouthed and crude-minded.
The F-word shows up as every possible part of speech, including articles and pronouns.

And then there’s the sex. Not implied sex. Full frontal nudity, graphic sex. Otherwise known as porn.
And society calls this entertainment.
Deadpool is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I know that I will have to go see it again next week, just to catch all the lines I missed because the entire audience was laughing so loud. From beginning to end, the laughter in our theater was almost nonstop. The action was great, but better than the fights and violence, Ryan Reynolds is so incredibly perfect in his lines, it was fantastic. The humor is base and raunchy; still, Reynolds’ softened delivery makes each horrible offense seem sugary sweet.
geekdad.comFor an adolescent fantasy about torture, loss, and gleeful, unrepentant murder, Deadpool is unexpectedly joyous.
theverge.comDeadpool was a hit on every level, scoring 84% critical approval on review aggregate site RottenTomatoes.com and an A from audiences on CinemaScore.

As a Christian, and a conservative one at that, I expect to be in the minority often, but I have to admit to being a teeny bit surprised at the level of not only acceptance, but outright celebration of a movie of this level of immorality.
Over the weekend I’ve read comments on articles saying things along the line of “the profanity is nothing worse than what my son/daughter hears at home” and even “the nudity is nothing my teens haven’t seen on TV and other movies.” Really?! That’s normal in your home? Why?
What ever happened to standards?
When did common decency become so uncommon?
I remember a day when Rosanne pushed the envelope and used “the b-word” on TV, and the whole country gasped. Every talk show, newspaper, and magazine in the nation was talking about it. Now it seems our language become so debased that the f-bomb has become the most commonly used adjective in movies and on cable TV and society is ok with that. In fact, society thinks it’s cool and you’re just a prude if you think otherwise.
Lord, help us. No, really, please help us.
I don’t even know how to end this. I’m just sitting here shaking my head, disheartened by a world that calls good evil, and evil good.
This blog is about parenting and motherhood, and I wrote this post from the perspective of a concerned parent.
Parents, please, please, PLEASE, make an effort to protect the hearts of your children from the dark influences in this world.
This movie is a bad idea, and it’s ok to tell your kids “no”.
It’s ok to tell yourself “no”, too.

Ali, you are an extraordinary mom! I commend you for speaking out. We have been told in The Word that these days were coming but I really couldn’t see how it could happen. How could mankind love what is evil and hate what is good? Yet it is gapping all around us. Thanks for raising your kids with high expectations and loving them so much that you would tell them “no”. Many blessings. Your sister in Christ.
Dead pool is not marketed for children. The movie has tons of material, readily available on the internet explaining that it is not for children. Since Disney owns marvel they have used what characters they have sure, but dead pool has always been an adults only comic book. There is a giant separation between comic books for adults, and comic books for children, but this view isn’t very widespread because most people don’t read the books, they just watch the films or shows.!However, that just leads to my second point… I Don’t understand being offended by what happened in a R rated movie. You also can’t be so sheltered as to feel like this is a new trend, US entertainment has been saturated in sex and violence since the 80’s… I believe that this is exactly the same as Freddy Kruger or predator or even aliens, which all had toys, cartoons, and comic books created for them. You should also note that many characters have their own series for adults or children… Think of the contrast between batman Hush (a VERY adult comic series) and batman, the brave and the bold comics (a kid friendly series with popular cartoon characters) this feels like the same separation. It’s not hard to explain that batman A is for grown ups and batman B is for kids, so why is that harder for deadpool; which as I stated before has NO children friendly comics. Yes he’s in the cartoon series but the other 90% of deadpool material is AO. My point here is that it doesn’t take a lot to keep children away from stuff like this, you seem to be doing a solid job of from all you’ve said… I just don’t agree that the world is failing or becoming a dark place. This stuff has always been around and it’s up to a parent to decide what’s good for the kids or not, so just leave it at that.
Rant on my friend, rant on!! Well said. So thankful for parents that care enough to teach and protect their children’s hearts. According to scripture this world will not get better, just the opposite which means it will take much more effort to train up a child in the way to go and to not lean on their own understanding (or the world’s). Thankfully we serve a big and mighty God and there are blessings for those who walk in His way which is the narrow path and few go there!
My husband and I sat through 50 tortuous minutes of this movie based purely on the trailer– neither of us knew anything about the character- but the trailer marketed it as a funny action superhero movie.
oh my word- after the first 10 minutes we should have left- but we kept thinking- surely this will get better, right? no. i was horrified to say the least- and not just by the movie- but by people’s reactions– just as you said- they laughed at everything. There were parents there with kids. i saw a man holding his infant daughter. we walked out- and i have made it my personal mission to make sure people KNOW just what this movie is about. Not only should kids not go see it– but why would it be ok for adults — esp. believers– to watch straight out porn and pretty much everything else that God is against? I applaud you for not allowing your son to wear that hat– we should not endorse anything like that– and yes- Lord help us– it breaks my heart that society is applauding this movie- and not just those who ar not believers– i know of adult men who claim to love and know God going to see this movie with their guy pals…
just no words..
THANK YOU. Just THANK YOU!
Thank you for this post! My husband and I were considering going to see this movie because we usually enjoy comic book movies. We certainly won’t now!
I’m glad you decided to be a decent parent and keep your underage children from seeing a movie VERY CLEARLY rated for adults.
Just because your kids won’t enjoy this film because it is NOT for them doesn’t mean that the adults that this film is very clearly rated and marketed for shouldn’t.
‘Out of Touch Conservative Christian Has Problems with Today’s Entertainment’
CNN will have more on this breaking news story at 11.
I’m not totally familiar with this dead pool movie or character. I have two young daughters. I do know many other parents who have taken their children to see many other movies (what I call adult Disney Movies with real people in them) that I do not let my children watch. I didn’t even take my 7 year old to see that new Cinderella movie while I know many others did. I agree and believe that our society has changed a lot and I wish people sheltered their kids a little more. I worry for my children’s future and what society will be like for them to live with.
Great post!
The Cinderella film has no objectionable content, I assure you. There is nothing in it that would not be permissible in the strictest household on the Earth. I am not sure why you would not let your daughter see it, for I do not understand the precedent with which the film might seem somehow inappropriate. Or is there something I am not understanding?
Take it from a sheltered child. Don’t do it please. Being overprotective of a child will just make them less prepared for the real world.
I agree that not only is Dead pool a awful movie to bring children to but it’s in your face violence and humor are not for all adults. That being said I new that before I went to see the movie. I new that I was going to be shocked, surprised and horrified all in one sitting and I wasn’t disappointed. After a few Middle East diployment I came to the conclusion that life is horrific shocking ugly. Ignoring or pretending it isn’t is just window dressing. Instead we can make light of the things that are ugly in life. As for porn The sex scenes they were far from pornographic. Very little was shown during them. The full frontal parts where later. One episode of the current HBO tv series shows more “porn” than the entire dead pool movie did.
You know what is more scary than Deadpool (which is rated R at my theatre) is reading the bible.
I agree with you 110%! A movie rated R is NOT for my children, and I have heard many accounts where children were taken to the movie…. I also know parents who did the right thing and said no to their 13 year old child. I also try to have the rule that if I don’t want my children to see it, then I probably don’t need to watch it either. I get more and more disappointed in the entertainment industry….. Violent for fun? No thank you…. violence because that really happened (war movies) I can deal with. Swear words every other minute…. not fond of that either….. now only if I could get my husband on board…..
It definitely sounds insanely and excessively disgusting. I’m so glad my older son told me it wasn’t a movie my younger son should go see!
I wasn’t planning on seeing this movie. I really didn’t know what it was about til I read this, so thanks for sharing. I think I’ll watch the movie, Risen instead. Hope you do a movie review of Risen. 😄
I saw someone say this movie was violent and raunchy and pretty much the best. The first two descriptions told me this was not a movie I would want to watch. Let alone my kids. Thanks for sharing what this movie is promoting. And I am also appalled that everyone is praising this kind of a movie. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
THANK YOU!
A lot of CHristians have sure lowered their tolerance level in a very bad way. We have really let satan sneak in and charm our kids in a lot of ways.
From one mother’s heart to another, thank you for writing this. I feel your pain and disheartenment at the sight of a world so blind and consumed by irreverence and evil that it celebrates something like this. My son is only a baby, yet I worry already about the world in which he is and will be growing up. May God protect our little ones!
First my off topic bit, if you’re a Christian don’t go around thinking you’re a minority. About 70% of the nation is Christian and stating you aren’t some form of Christian often still comes with negative stereotypes. And while hard to give an exact amount, probably around half of that (~35%) would be conservative Christians. So even as a Conservative Christian you still outnumber Non-Christian faiths/”unaffiliated” (atheists/agnostics mostly) combined.
More onto topic though, it sounds you need to sit down with all your kids and explain why Deadpool is not as awesome as they think he is from apparently one episode of a cartoon and a video game (and not the Deadpool game, which is quite graphic in violence). He was never meant to be kid friendly, and the movie has at least been passed around for a good while that it WILL NOT be anywhere close to kid friendly. He’s an anti-hero, and a very R rated one at that.
Will say that at least some geek communities have been worried something like this (your post, and probably others like it that are starting to pop up) will happen; especially when one mother tried to create a huge uproar before the film came out to try and get the studio to edit it to be PG-13 so her kids could see it. There is a worry that your cries will scare studios away again from trying R for some characters (though after how well Deadpool did opening, it’s now doubtful).
Basically, you should research better, and if you are that worried about your kids keep a better eye on them. If your 16 year old son thinks he’s that great, it’s either through his friends at school or he’s been reading some of Deadpool’s comics himself (probably the latter, if not both). After all, it’s doubtful a 16 year old from just one game and cartoon episode would think the character is that amazing.
So I partially laugh at this reading it. Then again, I partially blame whoever put Deadpool into those kid friendly mediums. Maybe they wanted it for they figured more grown up fans would be watching (because they’re comic nerds, or watching it with a son or younger sibling, etc) and wanted to give something for them. More than likely they saw Deadpool the last few years was getting really popular and grabbed the character not knowing too much about him thinking about ratings/revenue.
Either way I do mostly agree Deadpool should be kept away from kid oriented games and TV shows. Go write an angry letter to the creators of Ultimate Spider-Man and that one video game to not include him or start a petition for them to NOT include him in such things.
Oh, and if you pay attention to things Deadpool does in that Ultimate Spider-Man episode, it should red flag you right there he isn’t too kid friendly. Been a while since I saw it, but one of the first things he does is heavily allude to how he usually kills people, but simply can’t due to the medium he currently is in. It’s on Netflix (or was) so maybe you should sit down with your kids and pause it after such scenes to use that to point out Deadpool really isn’t that great of a person.
We Christians are a minority. The Bible says that we will be a minority. 70% of the nation may claim that they are Christian, but they aren’t. If we were, I do not believe that abortion would be legal. The majority wouldn’t be running with arms wide open and embracing things that the Bible clearly says is wrong. The majority wouldn’t be saying that what the Bible says is wrong is actually ok, and that what the Bible says is right is actually wrong. And I don’t believe we would have a president who embraces and allows such things. Things would be a lot different if the majority of our nation really was Christian.
In most areas of the country it is still political suicide if you claim to not have some faith in God. There are quite a few who speculate that Obama is probably agnostic or atheist and simply claims and uses the term God at times due to this. And sure, out of that 70%, I’m betting many are far more devout than others. Doesn’t change that right now though America is still a very Christian nation. It can be seen since the 50s when “God” was added to money, the Pledge, and started to be added to a lot of government buildings and other proceedings.
And if you want to talk about actually embracing things the Bible clearly says is wrong, well I wonder if you do. If those Christians “really was Christian” and followed the Bible. Don’t eat shellfish or swing (pig). Being able to stone a woman to death if she’s not a virgin on your wedding night (assuming you can show the non-bloodied sheets as proof). Premarital relations. That women are property. Multiple wives. Execute those who break the Sabbath. To stay away from those who worship other gods. Don’t even mention those other gods. Handicapped people can’t approach God’s alter. That you must execute a child who hits or curses their parents. Kill witches (close to 1% of the US population should be slaughtered according to this one). That atheists do nothing good (ever). You can sell your daughter to be a servant or slave. Beating kids will make them less foolish/wise, it’s okay to use a rod for that too.
I’m betting you don’t embrace everything the Bible says you should. That you do things the Bible says you shouldn’t.
” If those Christians “really was Christian” and followed the Bible. Don’t eat shellfish or swing (pig). This is a typical argument used by people who are ignorant of what the Bible actually says and basic theology. I’m not insulting you, nor would I…you are just simply unaware of basic Christian theology. Bear with me just a moment and I think I can explain it well enough (hopefully).
The truth is that the Levitical laws (some of which you mentioned) were put into place along with the “10 commandments” to protect the Hebrews during that time and in that place…sometimes from themselves, sometimes from external sources. These were part of the covenant that God had with the Hebrews during the days of Moses. God didn’t create these laws to be an overlord, He was creating boundaries because He cared for them. That’s what any good parent would do. Now going back to the first 10 laws (commandments): these laws were fulfilled through Christ’s birth, life, death, and ascension. He was the fulfillment of the law so that we were no longer slaves to that law. Paul talks about this a lot in the chapters 2-7 of Romans. Jesus summed up the 10 commandments in one sentence. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. By following what Jesus says here, we follow all of the 10 commandments by default. Think about it; if we love God and other people with all of our hearts, we won’t steal, commit adultery, murder, lie, put other gods before him, etc. Then, in John 13:34, Jesus stated, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” The “…as I have loved you…” part of that new commandment has special significance because of how he showed His love for all people.
The Levitical laws now have no bearing in our lives now because we have a new covenant with God through his son Jesus. We are no longer slaves to the 10 commandments as Paul states in Romans because we have this new covenant. We don’t sacrifice animals as the Hebrews did to cover our sins because we have this new covenant with Christ who was the final blood sacrifice. It’s not that Christians don’t do those things now because society wouldn’t approve of them or because “times have changed”, and it’s not because we don’t do those things because we aren’t “truly following what the Bible says” or aren’t true Christians, it’s that they are no longer valid because of the new covenant. I hope that makes sense.
I wish you the best and hope you have a fantastic day.
We have a place for people like you: Utah. I’ve seen the movie and it seems odd that you state “It shows full frontal male and female nudity”, which in fact it shows no male or female reproductive organs, and you have not seen the movie, it tells me that you’re going by hearsay rather than fact. Guess what!? TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), X-Men, Wolverine, and The Avengers are all adult oriented comics, in print form. So before you going on your hypocritical, holier than thou, Bob Jones University-esque rant, try getting facts straight. Casting stones isn’t nice. Didn’t Christ say that?
I’ve seen the examples of sheltering children in this era and guess what, those individuals whom have had that upbringing are extremely socially awkward and cannot formally communicate with others or deal with what the real world brings. Go on and live in your sheltered lifestyle by judging others as we within the world enjoy life, accept others for who they are and are happy. Believe it or not, I’ve grown up within the “conservative right wing” family and church and they are littered with hypocrites who in slang terms “fake the funk”.
While I’m on a similar side of the fence you are totally wrong. The movie does in fact show full frontal nudity.
People are arguing about the sexual scenes in the movie, but not about anything else you shared. So, does that mean the rest of it is ok behavior? All the f-bombs, all the crude vulgar humor, and all the unnecessary over the top violence that people are entertained by is ok? I think that that proves the point you are making.
Yes, I’ve noticed that as well. The nudity, and whether or not it should be considered pornographic or at the very least inappropriate and/or unnecessary, does seem to be a sticky point with a lot of people…
By all accounts that I’ve read, even those praising the movie, the language is extreme and there’s a lot of it. The examples of crude, vulgar, and sexually charged humor that I’ve read in multiple reviews (yet angry readers just call that hearsay because I didn’t actually watch the movie, never mind the fact that the reviewers did) are simply indefensible, in my opinion.
From another post on the interwebs –
“DEADPOOL is a character that mocks and abuses an elderly blind woman. DEADPOOL is a character that jokes about child molestation while flirting with a prostitute.” https://www.movieguide.org/news-articles/dear-america-please-dont-watch-deadpool.html
Joking about child molestation?! Who thinks that is funny? And why?
Srry just really pissed at god right now
I have the depression
I work in a high school and middle school. This movie is all the rage amongst our young people. This is so destructive to their developing minds. God help us as we have afallen off a steep cliff.
I read the newspaper review of this movie in the Houston Chronicle and it tore this movie to shreds. Then we looked it up on rotten tomatoes and it gave it a good rating. My husband was interested in seeing it and my boys were begging to go. Of course I don’t let my kids see rated R movies and I had heard about the character so the answer was ABSOLUTELY NOT! Still my husband and I went to see it before Valentines Day and I will be honest- VERY FEW people in our theatre laughed at all. I laughed in a couple of places and I felt awkward because nobody else was. My 21 year old son took his girlfriend to see and he said he loved it and thought it was hilarious…don’t know what she thought though. I teach and many of these kids (even in kinder) are allowed to see rated R movies and play Call of Duty and games like that….in fact my two ten year olds have friends who are allowed to play those games. My 7th grader hates the language kids at school use but he’s become desensitized to it because so many kids use fowl language and talk about sexual things. It’s a sad time we live in….
Well said, Jennifer!
I just want to help you give your article more weight and legitimacy as it’s passed around on FB as I surely hope it is!
Your spell check allowed you to use “isle” when you mean “aisle”… unless, of course, you’re lucky enough to be writing this from Maui!
Ha! Good catch! No, I am not fortunate enough to be writing this from Maui… #bummer
I haven’t watched it but after reading this .. I can’t wait!!!
Pls don’t bring your kids.
ThNks!
You are an idiot. Your god is not real and if he is, he murdered the entire earth so he could repopulate it through incest. Your god doesn’t have the same morals you claim to hold and are the reasons why you will not see a great movie.
Also children shouldn’t see that movie series that promotes muderous monsters and necrophilia! How Hotel Transylvania promotes Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster, and the wolf man to children is HORRIBLE!
What’s that? FICTIONAL characters can be portrayed differently to different age groups? And parents can actually do a little research and understand that it’s ok for their kids to watch the Dracula portrayed in the Hotel Transylvania series, but NOT the Dracula that is depicted in literally HUNDREDS of R-Rated movies?
Wow, I guess I should decide for myself what entertainment is right for me, and what entertainment is right for my kids.
I love how people twist things around. If they disagree, why do they even come on here to read your blog? I have better things to do than to click on links I disagree with, read them, and then reply with my argument or disagreement.
“I have better things to do than to click on links I disagree with, read them, and then reply with my argument or disagreement.”
Me too! Some people really do have too much time on their hands…
Yes they do!
Educate yourself before you go see a movie. If you’re simple minded enough to be “offended” by words, then keep yourself in a closet. Just because you don’t find something entertaining, doesn’t mean others feel the same way. Look at the box office, you’re clearly in the minority. It has never been marketed to children. Be a parent and teach your kids right from wrong. If you’re worried about a movie corrupting your kids, then you’re doing it wrong.
We as Christians should be offended. Our society has gone so downhill. F-bombs all the time shouldn’t be normal, unfortunately, it is anymore. People don’t have respect around others to where they don’t swear around them all the time like that. Yes, those trying to embrace morals and hold to them are in the minority. As far as it being marketed to children, yes, it is.
Wait a second… you’re ok with Batman, but not Deadpool? Batman set a guy on fire with his f***ing car, but that’s ok? Stop being such a g** d*** whine a** and try blaming the parents for once. Video games and movies don’t make kids violent, bad parenting does.
Yep. I edited your comment. I could’ve just deleted it, seeing as this is my blog and all, but I left it up for all to see just how rude and purposefully disrespectful you are. Thanks for giving me an example of exactly what I was talking about 🙂
go drink some bleach please. I think I just got cancer after reading your post. LMFAO
My son is a childhood cancer survivor. My sister’s son, diagnosed about 6 months after mine, DIED from a childhood cancer around the same time my son finished treatment.
My maternal grandmother died from cancer, and 3 of my mom’s sisters are breast cancer survivors.
Your comment, that I’m sure you thought was clever and funny, is so offensive, which I guess was your point. I hope you’re proud of yourself for that one.
Not only did you just tell me to poison myself, which last time I checked was considered harassing language, but then you made light of getting cancer. Well, getting cancer is no joke to most people.
Feel free to not comment next time I offend you.
Just click the x up there on the tab…
Good on you m8

Nah i was kidding why dont you get cancer so you stop creating poisinous blogs
Get over yourself.
You get over yourself.
Two can play at this game. Have a nice day 😀

Edited, because I don’t care for that kind of language on my blog, but left up, so everyone can see what a fine specimen you are…
You’re Christian, yet offended by the few bad people killed by Deadpool?
“And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth.”
Genesis 7:23
God killed everyone (that’s LITERALLY everyone on earth, as the Bible is to be taken as such,) you can’t say EVERYONE was deserving of death for the sins of the world. All those pregnant women? Were those unborn children deserving of execution? Remind me of the Christian position on abortion? Of course this is only one example, there are dozens more in the Bible.
Deadpool by contrast, exclusively kills only those deserving of death. Murderers, rapists, serial killers, kidnappers, lawyers etc.
The only logical conclusion is:
Deadpool (while not necessarily moral) IS morally superior to God (yours.)
Perhaps to be better people your kids should read more Deadpool and less Bible…
Lol she dont reply
Some of you really need to lay off and quick attacking someone because they are taking a stand for what they believe in. What do you take such defensive? Unless you know she is right and it strikes a chord in you.
She’s complaining about Deadpool, so is she worried it’s right and she’s wrong?
Gotta love flawed circular logic!
Why is she so defensive about people who are telling her that she’s wrong about her opinion of society and this movie? Unless you know, we are right and that strikes a chord with her and you as well…
It’s funny, because the way I read the comments, I’m not the one getting defensive.
I wrote an opinion piece, which is more along the line of going on the offensive. The angry trolls, yourself included, are the ones getting defensive, the ones striking out in anger with vile & nasty insults because some no name little mom blogger hurt your feelings.
Don’t like what I have to say? Okay, we can have a civil discourse, or you can just click the red x in the upper right corner.
Actually I believe you’ll find Ummmm (may have added an m) was quoting near verbatim, bar correcting the grammar, part of Tony’s post. So they’re not really getting defensive but rather demonstrating a grasp of irony. So if you’re opting to call Umm (may have missed an m) a angry troll you might wish to extend the same courtesy to Tony who used the identical vile and nasty insults.
Ali,
I agree completely!!!! Amen for preaching on this! I am going to tell my MIL not to take my 15 year-old nephew to see it. I had no idea it was so disgusting! Yes, I live under a rock too. (a strong rock, a refuge! :))
Thank you for stepping out there and stepping on some toes. Keep up the great work! God bless!!!
E.
I have a couple of problems with this post, first off, i don’t understand what you are mad about. This material is specifically marked at adults, as the first real R rated “superhero” movie. Your children may like a cartoon character but you have to realize freaking Disney movies and stories are based of something much more GRIMM. Deadpool is satire at its best and no there is no Satan in satire you overreacting christian attention whore.
Are you f***ing serious with this sh**? Its f***ing rated R! what did you exspect!? If a kid goes online right now and types BOOBIES breasts will show up! Im not obe for censorship, but come on! Taking a f***ing hat!? Did you at least give jom back his money!? Thats a 15-20$ hat! Hell, my deadpool anime shirt was 35$! Shame on you! And geeze, over 9 kids? Stop f***ing so much if you hate porn in a 18 and older movie! Just f*** you and your sh***y opinion! It was hilarious, i live gore and sex jokes, no wonder ypu have10 kids! You cant get abortions cuz gods a hypocrit and said no !
You, sir/ma’am/thing, are a great example of the results of a society that embraces immorality.
Did I go to your site, or even a site that you like/support, and start ranting and raging?
Nope, I didn’t think so. I calmly expressed my opinion, on my own blog, without even swearing at anyone or getting personal with insults and name-calling. It’s called civilized discussion. You should try it sometime.
No insults? You’ve insulted massive segments of the population with your gross generalizations about the people who made and enjoyed this movie.
Don’t fet whiny when you go on the offensive first and people throw it back at your face.
No, I didn’t get personal with insults and name calling. Just because you were offended by my calmly stated opinions, doesn’t mean I was throwing out personal insults.
I have no idea if you’re the same person or not, but I was responding to a very offensive comment that was a personal attack in nature. I didn’t stoop to that level, and I’m not going to. Period.
If you can’t see a difference in the tone of my writing and the tone of Animalopilis’ comment, then, well, I’m not impressed. Just click the red x up in the corner…
Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 has gotten totally innapropriate too, it’s nothing but bad example and so also must be stopped. It promotes brotherly hate, revenge, racism, and abusive relationships. The turtles were even blood thirst assassins in the comics, and still are to some extent, only now they aren’t even nice to each other, they make Donnie cry and feel like a freak. Tmnt is advertised much more than Deadpool and is pushed in the faces if a much younger crowd, it’s in baby clothe and everything. It’s sad.
Go die
I was raised by a mum like you i have had depression since age 14
I wasnt allowed friends because children are bad influences
God aint real muthaf****s
Christianity is worse than all other religions combined
I suppose I’m supposed to believe that because you said so…
Or maybe because you read it on the internet somewhere…
Yeah society is crumbling
Remember how civilised we used to be when all entertainment was was slaves pitted to fight each other to the death
And when pagans used to burn babies alive yeah those where the days
yes deadpool appears in the spiderman cartoon, where he tries to unalive everyone. also the movie barely touched on his pan sexuality. punisher and blade have also been in the cartoons and you shouldn’t let your kids watch their movies either. not all comic book characters are for children. i don’t expect you to be well versed in comic law just to look at the damn age rating. if you ever ask yourself the question, should i take my kids to see an R rated movie? then you are a terrible parent. why should fans of the character not get a faithful reproduction of the comics just because you are a terrible parent?
I’m going to give you a spin in a new perspective.
First of all, no I would not take a child to see this movie, any parent who assumed they could is lacking in parenting because it is the parent’s job to parent, not the filmmakers, the studio or anyone else. The parent alone is responsible for their children and their upbringing. You seem to be doing a fine job at that and good. Keep it going. But here’s why I disagree with you: let me put a reminder that when you put yourself out there publicly be prepared for someone to challenge you. The ones who are incredibly offensive and use personal attacks don’t count, although the ones who’ve actually given you a well critiqued and articulate response deserves some consideration.
So, where I disagree with you? It’s very negative and in my opinion, not very Christian to look down on society that harshly. Stories and films like Deadpool have existed for more than the 80s (Sorry Bob) it’s been longer than cinema has existed itself. But let’s start with cinema. Do you know how the MPAA was founded? Back in the late 1960s Night of the Living Dead was released and since there wasn’t a rating system yet, children flooded the theaters only to be horribly frightened by the film. Hence the MPAA was founded. (Motion Picture Association of America) our rating system. But even before then we had frightening films such as Nosfuratu, and films like Metropolis which had women performing sexually. So see? This is not new, styles and symbols change throughout the history of humanity, just because women back in the early 1900s didn’t move their bodies the same way as Beyoncé today doesnt mean it wasn’t intended to be sexual or scandalous. So your feelings of society being so horrible is a negative Image that you yourself has projected. The media is there to blow things out of proportion. Don’t fall for it. Society is as it’s always been. Nice at times but also danger too.
Now, I’m here to defend the creative community, not Deadpool in particular. I am an ameteur filmmaker myself and you best bet none of my work would probably be to your liking since it would at least include curse words, violence and basically the true form of humanity. Which is fine. I don’t take offense. Us in the creative community are used to being outcasts and simply misunderstood. We also accept your opinion and your views and learn to live with them because we understand that will always exist no matter what. But here’s my point: Deadpool aka Wade Wilson is not an evil person, but simply humanity. He says and I quote “I am no hero, I’m just a bad guy who gets paid to [eff] up worse guys” now that’s not to say it’s okay to steal a man’s wallet because Wade was in the process of messing up a stalker, no. But it’s simply a another Moses or another character like Mary Magdeline, from the bible who did bad things, but God used them for better things…. Get the picture? People like Wade Wilsom exist (in the real world) mainly because?they were either exposed to just how disgusting the world can be, and because the world is a dangerous place- unfortunately, unlike you, know how to survive it best… or unlike your children were exposed to how ugly the world is too soon. Hence their rough lives as adults.
This doesn’t make them evil, just misguided and can happen to any human, because despite different personalities… I think it’s fair to say not a single person would be mentally stable after years of abuse, enslavement, or being the victim of a serial killer and here’s why I removed myself from Christianity or, more likely “Religion”. Too many Christians are about hiding from the bad, and/or telling those who might run with a dangerous crowd, who aren’t too pretty and are a bit too loud that they’re not good enough for them or God. Who are you to speak for God…? We are merely a tiny speck in the universe, we haven’t even travelled past the moon and yet we think we know everything, including God’s views on the inner tortured souls such as Wade Wilson. I believe it’s God’s job to focus on them while you’re here to guide them in a better direction, rather then shun them like they’re dirt on the side of the road. The character Collosses is what YOU should be as a Christian. Collosses believes Deadpool (Wade Wilson) can be better than a vigilante. He doesn’t need to be a killer to get his point across and he reminds him that it is only 4 or 5 moments in ones life that makes them a hero. Because it is not a full time job. If it were… We’d all be… Well…. God, now would we? Collosses knows Wade is a good man deep down and is determined to save him and bring him to a better path. That’s what Christians are supposed to do, and I find your blog entry the very problem within your community, hence why more and more people are moving away from your views.
Ryan Reynolds… The one who portrayed Wade Wilson/Deadpool and helped to finance this film is probably scum and full of satan’s rage in your eyes, correct? And I accept if I over shot that conclusion. Anyway, pretaining you do feel that way… Have you taken the time to get to know the man? He’s probably one of the most nicest people you could ever meet. So what if he has a bad mouth? I promise you, that he keeps a lid on it when kids are around. But as an adult, just hanging out with friends he’s himself and that’s who he should always be. I highly doubt God is going to Condemn him simply because he has a bad mouth. Then again, who am I to speak for God, right? The point I am trying to make is I doubt God is that vengeful because if He was, he would have to realize he’s not much different than Lucifer… Creating murder and mayhem just to prove a point. Although, I may be wrong, but I refuse to believe God is that much of a prick.
Deadpool represents the reality that those like you refuse to realize. Humans are naturally flawed some more than others there’s no reason to condemn their loud and e tended vocabulary lifestyle. You don’t even HAVE to shelter your children for them to grow up with decent manners and respect. My niece, whom was raised by two parents with severe drug addiction. One severely abusive and yet I’ve seen her have more respect, common courtesy, and manners than most kids with both responsible parents have in their pinky toe.
So my conclusion? You would much rather not watch or be any part of this film, that’s okay! Perfectly fine. However, don’t treat the filmmakers, and all those involved like they’re Satan incarnate. Intelligent, rational and level headed people don’t want to be like Deadpool. They watch it, laugh and enjoy it then go home to their less interesting, lack of murder, lack of violence lives… and go on living their simple average life, with maybe some foul language. It’s nothing to, for lack of a better word, crucify innocent people for.
For the record, I grew up with older brothers who had mean little friends who thought it was funny to watch a 5-year-old watch Nightmare on Elm St and other terrible films for a five-year-old and despite growing up to love horror movies, I’d say I am quite normal, rational, and level headed. I have not nor have I killed anyone, nor have a robbed anyone or done anything to the extent of Deadpool. Just some foul language from time to time. I turned out fine. if our society is falling apart, clearly it’s not the films to blame, it’s us, we people who lack I’m community, simple understanding of human feelings, and refusing to come together. That is the vibe I received from your blog entry….
IT IS A FREAKING COMEDY SUPERHERO MOVIE! GET OVER IT! SOME PEOPLE PUT DEADPOOL IN OTHER MEDIA SO THEY CAN ATTRACT ADULTS TO IT! FIRST OF ALL IF YOUR ALMOST 17 YEAR OLD WANTS TO SEE IT, GIVE HIM THE TALK! DO YOU THINK THAT THE RATING SYSTEM DOESN’T EXIST?! YOU SEE THESE POINTS AS IF IT SHOWS THAT IT BRINGS THEM TO THE OCCULT!
Look, just tell your kids that you think they’re too young to see it, AND DON’T BE LIKE THIS PIECE OF #%$& PARENT!
Wow, a year later and you’re and you’re still worked up enough to all-caps-shout at a stranger on the internet with a different viewpoint. Says a lot about you. That is all.
But thanks for stopping by… #notreally
God you’re an idiot. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it. Don’t want your kids to watch it? Don’t let them. Simple as that. You don’t get to be some high moral authority because you had 9 freaking kids lady.
Sincerely,
Fu**twat McDickinmuhballs
Too ashamed to use your real name? And you call her an idiot? Real mature response.
Don’t try to say Marvel is ok. It’s a terrible brand for a conservative religious person in general. They have depictions of Lucifer and God. They have made God die. A key super hero, Ghost Rider, is literally a product of Satan. Spider-man has made deals with Lucifer in the comics. I would like to clarify something for you. Marvel is a dark brand that has no qualms with killing whoever in any way. It has its light points that make it fun and easier to sell, but read some of the comics if you can find the time. They have the Blob from the X-men eat the Wasp. They have Captain America get sniped in Civil War. Civil war is started because some low class superheroes tried to fight a high class villain and ended up getting a bunch of innocent people killed. Iron-man even has God-killer armor. They depict other gods as a super hero, while in the Bible it’s states that it is blasphemy to worship another’s god.
Marvel has been depicting the world as it is. Gritty and dirty, not shiny and fun. The more you shelter your children from this truth, the more unprepared and surprised they will be when they face the real world and have it hit them like a freight train. What will your children do the moment that someone spews profanities at them? Look confused and not realize that they were insulted? Will they gasp in terror when they discover art pieces that depict sexual acts and violence? (Art imitates life. Many of the horrendous acts committed including rape, disinbowelment, and dismemberment were committed in the name of the one true God). Stop trying to act surprised when something like this comes out. We live in a society built on the bones of others. We live in a world where war and total nuclear distruction seem like it could happen anytime. We worship religions that destroyed countries and caused wars of unimaginable proportions. We live in a time that we can finally see society as a whole with the use of technology. We are society as it is, not as you would like it to be. We see it as broken, shattered, lawless, messed up, deconstructing it’s self, only held together by the smallest of threads. And that scares you. It makes you fear the real world. And instead of preparing for the real hard-ships, you cower and teach your children to cower behind religion and the “perfect ideals” of the religion you follow. Get real and look around you. The world is imperfect. So is everything and everyone. You may call me messed up for thinking this, but get real. We grow up in a world where war is televised, where conflict is known, where violence is gritty and dirty. Look around you and smell the roses. Or don’t. Let the fear of the world consume you and destroy what you try to belive in.
“instead of preparing for the real hard-ships, you cower and teach your children to cower behind religion and the “perfect ideals” of the religion you follow.”
You know nothing of what I teach my children. We see, and deal with, real world hardships on a regular basis. We live paycheck to paycheck, like most everyone I know, in a rural community where people all around us are regular visitors of the local food shelf. My children have all seen homeless people with signs, begging for handouts on street corners in Minneapolis and even up into the suburbs (we’ve spent a lot of time at Minneapolis Children’s Hospital, so yeah, they’ve also seen a lot of real world sickness and even death.) We talk about hard issues like drugs, suicide, crime, violence, and sexual promiscuity often. My teenagers have jobs where they interact with people of every variety on a regular basis. And we talk about it. We’re not cowering behind anything.
Just because a Christian parent wants more for their children then lawlessness and promiscuity doesn’t make them cowering or high and mighty. There’s nothing wrong with desiring better than brokenness, desiring goodness rather than hate and evil, desiring light rather than darkness. You should try it.
Judge mental much ?? The golden rule treat others as you want to be treated I’m sure you wouldn’t appreciate people telling you how to raise your kids which you spent a lot of time defending in your publication so you don’t have the right to tell others either …parents know going in what dead pool has in it all they have to do is look at the rating it was given and it will enclose all the adult and sensitive material it contains within the movie and if parents still decide to let their children watch then that’s there business I personally wouldn’t let my kids watch it but when they are adults it will be there decision to watch whatever they want and if they decide not to watch it because it is a affront against god then I’ll be proud of their convictions but if they decide to watch it then fine it is their decision and if others let their kids watch it or watch it as a family then that’s none of mine or your business so you should get off your high horse that’s why there are rating systems so you can decide if that is something you want to be exposed to or expose to your family and if it’s not then move on and pick something that is more suitable to your taste and preference My
Father in law is a pastor at a southern reformed Baptist church and even he said all the restrictions he gave his girls growing up just made them more careful not to get caught i believe in being a model of Christ and teaching my children all I know about god and at ultimately it’s up to god to decide who he calls and it’s a person choice to decide whether or not they are gonna heed that call all we can do is try and teach them but don’t go tellin others how they should raise their kids because like I said it really none of your business watching Deadpool won’t make them bad people and the world has always been saturated with these type of things since before Jesus walked the earth they just didn’t have tv back then otherwise it would have been the same
conservatism and christianity are not compatible, all u christians or so called evangelics endorsing free speech are hypocrites and you will burn in hell unless u drop your “God respects our free will” baseless babble, God is not a respector of man, his will be done Jesus said! IT IS ALWAYS DONE, MAN’S IS NOT, YOU CANNOT EARN OR KEEP SALVATION, IT’S BASED ON GOD’S SOLE MERCY, A GIFT, NOT EARNABLE, IS SEALED WITH A PROMISE, GOD DIDN’T SAVE AND LOVE THE WORLD, ONLY “HIS OWN” WHOM HE “PREDESTINED” TO CHANGE. SHUT UP WITH YOUR FALSE LOVE GOSPEL THAT HERESY THAT CLAIMS GOD LOVES ALL, WHICH IS A GATEWAY TO EVERY FALSE DOCTRINE OF ALL KINDS OF CULTS USING CONTRADICTORY PANDERING FEEL GOOD GOSPELS, YOU MUST REPENT WITH DEEP SORROW AND REGRET OVER YOUR SINS, AND TRUST YOU’RE FULLY INTO THE FUTURE ARE FORGIVEN OR YOU’RE SALVATION IS FALSE AND BASED ON WORKS AND YOUR SINFUL CORRUPT WILL (WHICH GOD ALLOWS TO BE CORRUPT BUT IS NOT OUT OF HIS CONTROL EVER. WHEN THE BIBLE SAYS A CHRISTIAN MIND IS SPIRIT-CONTROLLED THAT MEANS GOD IS LOVINGLY CONTROLLING THEM BUT NOT FOR HATE LETTING THEM SIN, BUT THOSE HE HATES (PSALM 5:5) HE DOES OUT OF HATE CAUSE TO SIN TO THEIR OWN DOOM, HE IS JUST AND CHOOSES WHO TO PUNISH AND WHO TO RESCUE FROM SIN FULLY.
DEAL WITH IT OR YOU WILL BURN FOREVER FOR REBELLION. GOD IS NOT A JOKE OR SUGAR DADDY, HE IS GOD, GOD, GOD, INVINCIBLE AND ALL KNOWING, NOT SOME CORRUPTABLE MAN.
Whoa. Simmer down. Maybe read up on grace. Uffda.
Tell us how you really feel…
My thoughts exacly. Dead pool is the lowest of the low. It’s not rated R because it’s texting t be historically accurate it’s just a celebration of everything wrong with our society. Seeing people casually embrace a movie like this is odd and even disturbing. The movie isn’t even human-friendly.
I agree. But you don’t have to be a conservative Christian to think these types of movies are disturbing and sick. I’m a progressive liberal and not conservative by any means and I’m dumbfounded how much violence and sex is pushed on our children. Most people seem OK with it. I can hardly buy a Lego set for my boys that doesn’t have weapons or isn’t glorifying mayham. Let there be no mistake…. this is not by accident but a deliberate effort to polute the minds of children into accepting evil as an OK part of society.
Agreed! And thank you for your thoughtful comment!
THANK YOU.
The movie was rather R for a reason. A responsible parent would watch it before they let their kids see it and realize that obviously it’s not appropriate for kids which anyone with a brain could simply realize from looking at the rating.
Glad we can agree on that. Have a nice day.
